cell culture

Cell culture is to grow cells in a culture vessel or a culture scaffold, and includes activities related to the maintenance, passaging, proliferation, and differentiation of cells kept in such conditions. Cell culture must be performed in an environment where temperature, humidity, culture medium pH, oxygen concentration, etc. are properly controlled.
In the field of regenerative medicine, "cell culture" is sometimes used interchangeably with the term "cell processing" or "cell manipulation", which refers to the process where cells are subjected to drug treatment, biological alteration, genetic engineering, etc. to artificially alter the characteristics of cells and tissues, and then proliferate or activate those cells and tissues.
