human embryonic stem cell (hESC)

Cells that are collected from a human embryo, or cells that are derived from such cells through cell division (and never having never been part of the embryo); that possess the ability to differentiate into endoderm, mesoderm, and ectoderm; and that maintain the ability to self-renew or a similar ability.
