image analysis

Image analysis refers to extracting features from images acquired as digital data and evaluate them qualitatively or quantify them. This includes humans making subjective judgments by looking at images, creating software algorithms based on their criteria, and making automatic judgments based on those algorithms. In recent years, with the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) approaches such as machine learning, it is becoming possible to extract information from images and collateral sources to make an automatic assessment.
In the field of regenerative medicine, people are starting to quantify features related to cell morphology, quantity, and behavior through image analysis, using them for cell recognition and state evaluation.
There are expectations that finding important objective indicators related to the cell culture process from these features will increase the possibility of establishing quantitative cell quality control and manufacturing process control.
